As a first-time mom, my labor lasted days—more than 36 hours of active labor. Kiera answered our middle-of-the-night call right away, helped us form a game plan, and came to our home as soon as we asked. She somehow managed to be everywhere and nowhere at once: she quietly made sure both my husband and I stayed nourished and hydrated, offered hands-on support through contractions, prayed with us, and gently repeated affirmations—all while making it feel like it was just the two of us in our birth bubble. When we transferred to the hospital, she stayed with us every step of the way. She helped us communicate our birth plan so it was heard and respected, gave us unbiased information when medical decisions arose, and kept us grounded throughout.
If you’re hesitant about hiring a doula, do it. Kiera’s unwavering support allowed my husband to simply be my husband instead of also having to serve as coach, birth expert, and advocate. That made the entire journey incredibly precious. We will absolutely hire Kiera for any future pregnancies.
