My wife and I weren’t sure we wanted a doula at first. Before labor even began, she helped my wife relax — talking her through the early moments, offering comfort, and giving a soothing foot massage that set the tone for the entire experience. Once labor started, Sarah became absolutely essential. She was kind, warm, and calm — exactly what my wife needed going through her first birth. She not only set the vibe of relaxation, but physically helped her push for four hours, holding her leg so she had something strong to push against. You truly have to be strong to be a doula, and Sarah is.
During every contraction, she was the steady guiding voice we needed. She somehow knew exactly what to do before we even asked. Sarah exceeded anything we could have imagined.
Her support continued postpartum, answering questions and helping us navigate those first days with our newborn. Looking back, we honestly don’t know how we would have done the birth without her. My wife got the birth she dreamed of — positive, calm, supported, and never stressful — and we retell our story proudly because Sarah helped shape it.
