My husband and I worked with Mia to deliver in UW Northwest hospital and we have a very positive birthing experience, thanks to Mia! I am a FTM, who strongly wanted an unmedicated delivery and Mia helped me achieve that and more!
Mia is a power house of information regarding birthing and breastfeeding. We had 3 pre-natal visits at the convenience of our home and Mia discussed everything from how labor progress, how to breathe through contractions, what to expect when the unexpected happens, help practice labor management with my husband, golden hour expectations, drafting our birth plan and talking about breastfeeding. Our baby decided to arrive early. When my contractions started, Mia guided us via text on how to proceed until we called her at 4am and she was at our doorstep in 45 mins. She helped us labor at our home for 4 hours with the help of TENS unit and other laboring positions. I could sleep through a lot of my contractions, thanks to her techniques. She knew when it was the right time to head to the hospital. The UW nurses recognized her as well. Over the next few hours, Mia helped me labor through various positions in the labor room. When it was time to push, she motivated me the right way and I was able to push our baby out safely. During the golden hour, Mia worked relentlessly for 1.5 hours to help my baby latch to establish breastfeeding. She gave me tips and recommend products to manage postpartum pain at home. Mia also captured great pictures and videos of my L&D (which I wanted). In our postpartum days, Mia recommended us a great at-home lactation consultant when we were struggling with breastfeeding.
Due to Mia, I not only had a positive birthing experience but my husband (who was uncertain about hiring a doula) was involved throughout the process and also has a positive experience. We were able to stick to our birth plan due to her. We both highly recommend working with a doula like Mia.
