I chose to hire a doula for our second pregnancy and I’m so happy we did! We started working with her at the end of the first trimester l through post partum. She was always flexible with adjusting meeting times, outside of meetings she texted often checking in, offering support and it was evident how invested she was in our experience and doing what was in her control to contribute to a redemptive labor experience. Jess truly showed up for us physically and mentally and I’ll always be grateful she was a part of our experience. She advocated in the hospital during a challenging time in labor and always kept my wishes at the forefront. I especially appreciated her taking photos during our labor and providing us with a timeline of the events during labor so we could look back and remember the highs and the lows, and it helped show me how much resilience I have. She not only supported me but my husband. Having her there for the delivery was so helpful she showed me how well I could breathe through contractions and her presence also allowed my husband to rest and be present for me mentally too. You won’t regret hiring a doula if you are considering do it!!
