Going into each of my pregnancies, I knew I wanted a doula who would help me understand my birthing options and support my goal of having an epidural-free birth. From the beginning, Sanyika was calm, knowledgeable, and compassionate—exactly what I needed.
During my first birth, my plan changed, and Sanyika supported my husband and me through more than 30 hours of labor, including some scary moments. Her support continued after delivery when she came to our home to teach my mother and me how to wrap my belly, giving me a much-needed moment to rest and recover.
Sanyika also supported me through two more pregnancies, including a miscarriage, providing resources and compassion when I needed them most.
When my second child was born, Sanyika was out of town but arranged for her wonderful teammate, Chaka, to support us. Chaka provided encouragement and counterpressure throughout labor, helping me achieve my goal of an unmedicated birth. I truly believe Sanyika’s thoughtful planning and understanding of my needs made all the difference.
