We feel incredibly lucky to have had Claire as our day doula for the first six weeks with our daughter. She was truly exceptional and made the transition into parenthood feel far less overwhelming.
On her very first day, we unexpectedly had to take our baby to the ER. Claire came with us without hesitation, advocated for our baby's care, and was especially caring toward me when I became emotional and overwhelmed.
She brought years of experience and practical knowledge. She taught us what was developmentally appropriate at each stage, including tummy time, breastfeeding positions, soothing and sleep techniques, and little everyday tricks. She helped us advocate for our baby with the doctor during a difficult diaper rash. She also prepared us for leaving the house, changing diapers, and breastfeeding on the go. By the end of six weeks, we felt capable and confident.
Claire was also incredibly proactive around the house. She did laundry, washed bottles, and organized the nursery and our baby's clothes without ever being asked. This made a huge difference while we were exhausted and I was recovering postpartum.
Most importantly, she was wonderful with our baby. She was patient, gentle, playful, and attentive to her cues. She was always genuinely happy to see her and so loving when she picked her up. She also taught us how to interact with our baby and build our own connection with her.
Claire was warm, kind, empathetic, and dependable. She felt like an experienced big sister looking out for our family, and I looked forward to every visit. Unlike a babysitter, she didn't just care for our baby. She taught us how to be better parents. Her experience, including raising her own children, showed in everything she did.
I would recommend her to any new parents. Thank you, Claire, for journeying with us through those first six weeks. You were a gift to our family during such an important and vulnerable time!
