We were on the fence about hiring a post partum doula, but ultimately decided we would benefit from the additional layer of the support as this was our first baby. I am so grateful that we did, and that we found Kaitlyn! She started the day after my son's birth, when I was physically and emotionally feeling very raw, overhwelmed, and vulnerable. Kaitlyn was a warm and grounding presence right away. One of the first things she did was help me set up my pump and learn how to use it, which was a huge relief as I'd been feeling intimidated by it and didn't feel like facing it alone. She was very attuned to my little one from the outset and took such wonderful care of him. My husband and I did not have very much experience with newborns prior to my son's birth, and benefited immensely from Kaitlyn's knowledge and gentle teaching style. She was also very flexible and checked in with what I needed during each of her shifts--some days this looked like her sitting with me and problem solving issues that were coming up (breastfeeding and sleep challenges, for example, which often had both me and my son in tears!), while others involved her just caring for my son so I could take a nap or get a few things done.
I have immense gratitude for Kaitlyn and cannot recommend her enough. If I could go back in time I would hire her as my birth doula as well!
