Michele was an incredible advisor and support provider for the recent birth of our son. We had worked with District Doula for the birth of our daugher several years ago and had a wonderful experience, so it was a no-brainer to work with them again! We had a prenatal meeting with Michele at 36 weeks, to discuss our birth plan and preferences. Michele took the time to talk through what we wanted and some different things to consider. She was helpful in raising questions that I didn't even know to ask. Through the conversation, I was able to identify concerns that I hadn't previously been able to pin point, which ended up being important to the way we managed the actual day of labor and delivery.
My water broke at 3:45am, 2 weeks early, so having District Doula on call to help me assess the situation and determine the timing of next steps, especially at that early hour, was incredibly helpful. Michele provided level-headed guidance and options at each step of the way through the day. Once she was at the hospital, Michele helped position my body to get the baby into my pelvis, and she was able to confidently navigate the delivery room in partnership with the nurses and doctor, anticipating needs and being helpful to everyone without stepping on toes. Following a successful delivery, I had some difficulty postpartum coming off the epidural, and she was an incredible support during that time, taking care of me and helping me feel better (more so than even the nurse!)
Michele continued to be a resource in the first weeks postpartum as we navigated challenges with breastfeeding. She provided great options to test out, to help us achieve our feeding goals.
I'd highly recommend working with Michele for your labor and delivery. She is a wealth of info and she shares her knowledge in a kind and helpful (but not pushy) way to help you achieve your goals!
