From my very first conversation with Heidi over the phone, I could feel her sincere interest in me—my hopes, my concerns, and the kind of birth experience I wanted to have. I immediately felt heard, encouraged, and supported, and that feeling only grew throughout my pregnancy.
Having experienced a traumatic delivery with my first baby, pursuing a different and more positive birth experience this time around was incredibly important to me. I carried a lot of emotions and concerns into this pregnancy, and Heidi met all of it with such calm insight, steady support, and sincere words of wisdom. She gave me reassurance without ever making me feel dismissed, and she helped me feel confident in my ability to advocate for the birth I wanted.
On the day of my delivery, Heidi was truly everything I could have hoped for. She was by my side and my husband’s side every step of the way, continuously providing the support, encouragement, and reassurance she had promised from the very beginning. She knew when to step in, when to simply be present, and how to help both of us feel grounded throughout the entire experience.
Two weeks postpartum, and I’m still riding the high of experiencing my dream delivery. After what I went through with my first birth, I honestly didn’t know if I could ever feel this way about a birth experience—and Heidi played such a meaningful role in helping make it possible.
I feel incredibly lucky that Heidi came out of “retirement” to support us. And if my experience has inspired her to return to doula work, I can only say that so many future families are going to be incredibly lucky to have her in their corner. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, calm, and genuinely invested in the families she supports. I will forever be grateful that she was part of such a life-changing and beautiful chapter for our family.
