Mariah was an indispensable member of our birth team. I knew we were a great fit from the start! At our first meeting she listened intently and responded compassionately as I shared my first birth story, my desires for this pregnancy and birth, and my (many) fears. During my pregnancy, Mariah was always reachable when we had questions or when things came up. I knew I could always reach out to her and get a thoughtful, empathetic response, no matter how big or small my concern was.
As we got to the end of my pregnancy, my entire birth plan changed and Mariah’s support became even more valuable. In addition to emotional support, she gave me suggestions for questions to ask and reminded me of my options when things felt uncertain. Her knowledge of all things labor and birth was so helpful!
I chose to get induced at 41+5 weeks pregnant and Mariah’s steady presence and confidence helped me stay grounded through every decision I needed to make. When things got intense, her hip squeezes were invaluable! She advocated for me while I was too internally focused to do so myself, gave me water and food between contractions, and told me “yes you can!” every time I said “I can’t do this!” My husband and I are so grateful for her support — emotional, logistical, and physical. I am grateful to have been served so well in the most vulnerable and sacred moments of my life as I brought my son into the world. Thank you, Mariah, for everything!
