Since I delivered quickly with my first baby, she helped me plan for what might be a very quick second delivery--even what to do if I had to deliver at home in an emergency! Lo and behold, my second delivery was even quicker than my first--only 2 hours!--and Anne made it to the hospital before even my husband and I did! I can't emphasize enough how much of a relief it was for her to be there, especially knowing that I would probably deliver quickly!
Anne helped me advocate for myself during visits to the doctor. She helped me express my desire to avoid an induction to my care team and suggested questions to ask them. After each appointment, we debriefed over text, and she helped me understand my care options.
I don't think I could have met my goal to deliver unmedicated without Anne. At the prenatal visits, she helped me understand non-medication pain coping strategies, which helped me feel confident before I went into labor. Once I was in active labor, she helped me use a TENS unit, change positions during labor, and gave physical and moral support to get through contractions. She helped my husband and me advocate for my care with the hospital providers; as a result, my birth preferences were honored to the fullest extent possible.
I was so glad to have Anne by my side when my baby had a shoulder dystocia, which required more intensive intervention by my care team. She helped me understand what had happened and the follow-up care my baby required.
I'd suggest Anne to any mom-to-be. Her kind, nonjudgmental attitude and extensive experience helped make my pregnancy and delivery a positive experience through all the ups and downs.
