Testimonial for Cara Call
Today I have two healthy boys and I never think of my birth stories without thinking of my love for Cara.
I had two traumatic birth expereinces, but with that two very positive doula experiences. I cannot image either of my briths without Cara. She is truly an Earth angel and she is certainly in the right line of work.
My first birth was planned to be a homebirth, but ended in a hospital transfer and ultimately a cesarean section. I labored at home for two days. Cara was there every step. Her support allowed my husband to stay fully present with me. She helped coached my movement and breathing during labor. Even over the grueling hours, she stayed engaged and present. When we had to transfer to the hospital she sprang into action and came with us. She communicated with the nurses and doctors when I was too exhausted to advocate for myself. She remained a positive, steady, calming force even when my birth plans greatly diverted. She was even able to come back to the OR with me for my cesarean because of her training, which wasn't something I had even thought about before, but was so greatful for.
Cara was the clear choice for my doula when I was pregnant again. My second labor was much smoother, but still ended in a cesarean. Again Cara was able to come to the OR with me. When my baby was out, he had a complication and the atmosphere of the whole room shifted, but Cara remained a calm and steady force alongside me. When my baby and husband had to go to the NICU, Cara stayed by my side. Her presence was reassuring and grounding. I don't know what I would have done without her on the scariest day of my life. She is so special and I wouldn't trust anyhone else to stand by me while ushering my babies into this world.
