Going into hiring a doula my general idea was that it would be nice to have someone knowledgeable about birth to talk to beforehand and be there the day of to help me by coaching. I was so thankful to have worked with Rachael for my.birth. ( My first) I really feel that I may not have achieved my goals of an unmedicated labor and delivery without her. She already is extremely knowledgeable, but through working with her its clear she's constantly seeking out others to learn even more from as well. Even including her clients. Her approach to every meeting was really converational and meetings always had time opportutinites to practice movements. The preparation excerises she shared were effective and provided something to practice during pregnancy. Rachael gave me unquantifiable support during my.labor. Beforehand, I wasn't quite sure if having someone to say a few encouraging words, or offer suggestions would make much difference. But having now done it, I realize it made all the difference! Her soft affirmations allowed me to stick with the coping strategies and feel that everything was okay even during the most painful parts and her hands on help positioning helped immensely during pushing. I highly recommend Rachael as a doula.
