Cindy is a fantastic doula. I am an advanced maternal age mother and had a lot of fears during pregnancy. Cindy was there at any hour to talk through my fears and help me feel reassured about the pregnancy and upcoming birth of my son. She went above and beyond to support me after each of the plethora of appointments I had. I felt more confident after speaking with her that I could truly trust my body to grow and birth my baby naturally.
This was my second VBAC attempt. My first VBAC was 18 years prior. So I felt nervous that perhaps this time wouldn't work out. Cindy never waivered in her support that we could achieve my second VBAC amd do so without medications.
When the time came to give birth, I was able to go into labor naturally. Cindy answered my call in the middle of the night and met me and my husband at the hospital. She helped me breathe through every contraction and supported my husband to help me breathe, move, and work with my body. Despite the Rollercoaster of emotions during labor, Cindy stayed patiently by my side and helped me process the pain, fear, and exhaustion that is natural birth.
At the very end, she stayed calm when I could no longer stay calm. And she reassured my husband during the hardest part of the labor when I needed his strength the most.
In the end, I achieved my goal of an unmedicated VBAC. It was a wonderful birth experience (albeit dramatic on my part). And I attribute the vast majority of my success to the kind, gentle, unwavering support of Cindy. She believed in me even when I could no longer believe in myself.
