As I began to go into labor at home with contractions I was thankful for the group text with Monica and Allison. They comforted me and reassured me while I was having contractions. We stayed in touch throughout the day until contractions got closer and they helped me to know okay it’s time to go to the hospital.
Once we get to the hospital we are met with Monica! She was waiting for us at the hospital and informed the staff that we were on our way.
Labor with Monica was amazing. Going through such a sacred, intimate moment of my life I’m so thankful God had her in the room. She was calm and peaceful. My husband and I enjoyed talking with her before labor got intense. Monica helped encourage my husband on what to do for me during contractions. Monica and my husband were the best team for me during labor. Monica shared my birth plan with the hospital staff. She helped make sure that I advocated for what I desired. Monica was steady during my birth. Her words of affirmation were continuous during labor and helped ground me back when the contractions were getting intense. At one point I didn’t think I could do it anymore but she stayed consistent with encouragement that I could do it and My body could do it! My labor happened so quick once we got to the hospital within just a few hours our baby was here. She was comforting throughout the birth and I felt safe with her! Meeting Monica felt like I was sitting with a friend that I had known all my life. Once baby was here I just kept looking at Monica and saying I just did it. I was in such awe that I had my VBAC all natural. Monica will always hold a special place in my heart and in my family. There aren’t enough words for her. I’m so thankful.
Choosing to have a doula was the best decision we have ever made. I can’t wait to get to do this again!
