Julie was beyond amazing. We decided to find a doula very last minute after taking a birthing class in which she was recommended by the instructor so, she literally stepped in last minute and saved the day. She helped me think through and create a plan for every aspect of what I hoped for during my birth beforehand and then stayed in close touch with me as we approached the due date. She offered guidance for movement, food, and stretches to help induce labor as well as how to move things along and find comfort after labor began.
Julie was an incredibly calming presence in the hospital with us. Without her, I wouldn't have known helpful position changes, when I should rest, or exactly what to expect at every turn. She helped communicate with the staff to keep me comfortable and when my labor went sideways due to reasons out of my control, she was so calm and comforting. She offered explanations of every procedure, asked questions I wouldn't have known to ask, and even came into the OR to support us during an unplanned and unavoidable c-section.
I can not recommend Julie enough. My delivery ended up much more complex than we had expected and both my husband and I would have spiraled into a headspace of fear and anxiety without her. Instead, I felt comforted, informed, and confident it would be okay.
