I went into birth with an intentional but adaptable mindset, hoping to labor at home and deliver with as few interventions as possible. Following an uncomplicated pregnancy, I was suddenly recommended for a medical induction for gestational hypertension at 37 weeks and 5 days. Jocilyn was the first person I called. She met my tears and shock with compassion, warmth, and encouragement. She reminded me how much agency I still had, helped me reframe the situation, and reassured me she would support me every step of the way.
During my induction, I advocated for more time to allow my body a chance to labor on its own. Jocilyn supported this without question, reminded us of helpful tools, and was always just a text or phone call away. Knowing she was in our corner was incredibly comforting.
Throughout labor, Jocilyn encouraged me to ask questions, gather information, and ultimately do what I felt was best for me and my baby. She helped me slow down, focus, and trust myself.
Jocilyn is as knowledgeable as she is warm, as supportive as she is non-judgmental. Through every plot twist, she was a steady presence cheering me on. I will never forget how she showed up for me, and I would choose to have her in my corner over and over again.
