My husband and I found Jess when I was in my second trimester of pregnancy this last February. On our first call with her, we immediately felt a sense of calm and ease – as well as bonding over our love of cats! Little did I know this would be only the beginning of a partnership with an incredibly significant person in my birth and postpartum experience. We initially hired Jess for our birth doula and she went above and beyond in the months leading up to the birth. Lending us books, pregnancy pillows, answering questions, and providing recommendations. We actually saw her 2-3 times before our “official” prenatal visits. In that way, I felt like we already established a really great rapport with her leading up to the birth. My plans for birth ended up pivoting to a medical induction and Jess was able to ground us as we were feeling the anxiety of change of plans. Her presence at the birth was incredibly supportive as she was able to help us pause, ask questions when needed, and keep things light and familiar in an unfamiliar place.
We were also able to hire Jess as our postpartum doula for the first 6 weeks and this was an invaluable resource for us. Having her steady, easy going presence every week during the largest transformation a person can go through was something I didn’t know I needed. She is an expert when it comes to newborns and taught us so much - soothing techniques, phases to expect, breastfeeding guidance, sleep expertise – you name it. Her visits always came with a sigh of relief to have a third pair of hands, another set of eyes and ears, and a truly caring heart. I don't know what we would've done without Jess in those early weeks. She is amazing at what she does and is a wonderful person on top of that. We can’t recommend Jess enough for your birth and postpartum doula. She is a gem!
