I found Datia by searching online for local doulas in my area. Datia stood out to me because of her years of experience, philosophy on labor, and even from her bio, I could tell she was a warm caring person that I would feel comfortable with by my side during my first pregnancy and delivery.
We met multiple times at my home with my husband. Datia helped us with our questions, planning, preparing, and was always so responsive. We felt very prepared for my labor and like another testimonial said, she knows Carle hospital and the staff very well which was a huge help in many ways. My water broke around 11:30pm and we checked into the hospital an hour later. We wrote Datia and although it was late and contractions hadn’t started yet, Datia came with us and it was comforting to have her throughout the entire time to help us understand what to expect. I labored for twenty-four hours, 17 hours unmedicated with Datia and my husband by my side. Datia helped suggest multiple positions and techniques for labor, she streamed water on my back while I was in the shower, she guided my husband on how to support me. Datia stayed close for all the ups and downs. We are so grateful to Datia for her commitment, care, knowledge sharing, and presence throughout a vulnerable and beautiful moment for us.
