Testimonial for Michelle Caster-Cyprian
I met Michelle through my doula and ended up getting her as my bonus doula-- and I feel so lucky that I did. She is a genuinely warm human being who really cares about her moms and babies. I was all the things when I was pregnant (SO scared, anxious, nervous, self-conscious, naive, unprepared, etc.). I was also overwhelmed which led to me being pretty spacey, but Michelle was so gentle and still named the things that would be helpful for me to face, practice, acknowledge and helped me stay present and prepared. Preparing for birth and the process of labor is such a profoundly intimate and vulnerable time that I was really going back and forth about even having strangers present. We ultimately ended up deciding to get a doula ft because my husband and I are first time parents and were really nervous. We already felt like we lucked out by finding the doula that we did. We could not imagine that we would get 2 people that we just felt so comfortable with. When my doula introduced us to Michelle during a movement class so was hosting, she was just so kind and warm that when my doula asked if we would be ok with her shadowing my birth, I did not hesitate to say yes. My little guy is so lucky to have entered the world with an additional 2 people who genuinely cared about his health and well-being. Birth was also the scariest thing I have ever been through, but having Michelle made it feel manageable. I cannot imagine having gone through birth without Michelle-- she was such a grounding and reassuring source of support. Every baby deserves to have someone like Michelle present during their birth.
Michelle also met me at my home to give me donor milk the night we discharged from the hospital when I told her how worried I was because my milk had not "come in" yet.
