Hiring Marcia Mattern was truly the best choice I made for my birth. I originally reached out to her while seven weeks pregnant in the emergency room waiting for the results from a sonogram. It was only an hour later that I was told that my baby had no heartbeat. I texted her back saying I wasn't in need of a doula anymore, but thank you. She immediately started asking questions. I felt completely lost and heartbroken and desperately needed an expert opinion- and she seemed skeptical of my sonogram. Praise the Lord, she was right! My baby was alive and healthy, which was confirmed four days later at a follow-up sonogram! I am eternally grateful for the reassurance she gave me during the darkest time of my life.
And then, Marcia was there on the best day of my life! It was so calming to have her with me. It allowed my husband to just be with me and not worry about the more medical side of things. We were at the Birth Center (because she had recommended it!) and I never felt scared for a moment, because she wasn't. And she held my hand while I got the first stitches of my life!
I cannot recommend Marcia enough! She has been such a blessing to our family!
