We wanted to thank Liz (my husband and I) for everything she did during our birth! We were able to achieve the best birthing experience we could have hoped for - an unmedicated vaginal birth, and it would not have been possible without Liz. From labouring with us at home, to travelling with us to the hospital, to setting the ambience in the room with mood lighting, to engaging with the nurses and doctors on our behalf in sharing our preferences and her experienced opinions, Liz was there providing support and care throughout. She was there not only for the beautiful moments but also for the most vulnerable ones. She was there when it was freezing getting out of the bathtub, when in pain in the restroom, and for all the moments when it feel we couldn't do it anymore (on account of painful back labour). Liz never made us feel embarrassed or alone - she showed up, cared for us, and helped us through it - especially during the messy parts when we needed her the most. We don't know how to express our gratitude regarding the massages and physical excercises she performed that helped us through the entire labour experience. We remember how safe and supported we felt having someone who actually knew what they were doing by our side. In the end we feel like we've made a friend and could not have been happier to have selected Liz as our birthing Doula.
