We hired Erin as our birth doula for my son, and I'm so thankful we did. Before the birth, she took her time helping us build a birth plan, and as first-time parents, we needed that. The internet is overwhelming when it comes to what you should and shouldn't do, but Erin simplified it all so that making choices felt approachable. When we ended up delivering three weeks early, I still went in feeling confident about our plan, even with induction now part of it.
From the moment they inserted the Foley balloon, things could not have gone more sideways, but Erin stood by us through every decision and every hurdle. I felt like she had a magic crystal birth ball: something would happen, and she knew exactly what the doctors would say next. She advocated for me when my pain wasn't being managed and encouraged me to speak up for myself when the epidural wasn't working. There were moments when I genuinely didn't think I'd get through it, and she made me feel safe and was a steady presence the entire time.
She was just as supportive of my husband, giving him space to rest and the tools he needed to support me.
We also hired Erin to photograph our birth, and the photos are powerful. She was our doula when I needed a doula and our photographer when the time was right for photos. If you're interested in capturing your birth, I can't recommend bringing her on for both enough.
