My labor was 48 hours long and Sarah was there with me every step of the way, from laboring at home to delivery at the hospital. She was an amazing support and resource at every stage, for both me and my husband.
One of the biggest benefits of hiring a doula, specifically Sarah, is that if/when things happen that may require deviating from your birth plan, she is there to talk it through with you, advise you, and remind you of your goals while you’re going through an incredibly strenuous time. For me, having a third party at the hospital with me who was there for me and I knew was acting in my best interest was an immense value and gave me so much peace of mind. No matter how much prep you do, as a first time mom, birth and the unknowns that come with it can be scary!
In the end, I could not be happier or more proud of how my birth played out and our decision to hire Sarah as my doula! The photos and videos she captured from my labor and birth are some of my most treasured memories. It is honestly insane how much time, attention, and effort we felt from her during the entirety of the labor process, as well as postpartum. If we are blessed with more children in the future, I will undoubtedly be hiring her as my doula again! Sarah is worth her weight in gold!!
