Chandra was an answer to prayer for our family. From our very first meeting she took the time to prepare both my wife and me for our home birth — walking us through what to expect, what our options were, and how I could actually be useful to Gabi instead of standing there feeling helpless. By the time labor came, we felt ready.
What we didn't expect was what she would go through to be there. Chandra had recently injured her arm and was in the hospital when it was time. She checked herself out to come be with us. She never had to do that. She showed up with one working arm, did everything she possibly could, and coached me step by step through the hands-on things she couldn't do herself. I think that made me a better support for my wife than I ever would have been otherwise.
Through all of it she was calm and steady, and she is a true prayer warrior — she was praying over us the entire time. When we needed someone to speak up for what we wanted with the birth team, she did. And her care didn't stop once our daughter arrived; she has continued to check in on us and support us through these first weeks.
