Going into the birth of our first child, my husband and I knew we had a lot to learn. As first time parents in the city without much family nearby, we wanted someone who could educate us, help us prepare, and support us in navigating conversations with our doctors and hospital staff.
From our first meeting, Jennifer was professional, kind, organized, and incredibly knowledgeable. She takes her role seriously and has a thoughtful, thorough process that helped both my husband and me feel much more prepared.
In the weeks leading up to my delivery, she was always available to talk through questions after appointments. I especially appreciated that she never told me what I should do. She explained my options, reminded me of the preferences I had shared, and helped me make my own informed decisions. When my birth plan changed, including my decision to get an epidural, she supported me completely.
Jennifer was with us in the hospital for nearly two straight days. She helped us communicate and advocate for ourselves with the medical team in a respectful way without ever overstepping. She kept me positive and engaged through a very long labor and continuously helped me move and change positions, even with an epidural, to help our daughter make progress. I truly believe her dedication played a major role in helping me avoid a C section.
After birth, Jennifer continued to support us through postpartum visits, helping with newborn care, useful products, and processing our birth story. My recovery was unexpectedly difficult after a childbirth injury temporarily affected my ability to walk normally, and she continued to check in and make herself available during an overwhelming time.
I cannot imagine the birth of our first daughter without Jennifer. We will always be so grateful for her knowledge, support, and genuine care throughout the entire experience.
