I was worried about the labor being dreadful but Ari truly made it a fun magical experience that will be in our memories for the rest of our lives. I was a little worreid a doula would be too crunchy for me, but Ari never pushed her opinions on us, she was very respectful and honored every one of our wishes and needs, and when we needed guidance on a decision, she gave us superior knowledge on the topic and educated us.
During Ari's home visits, we went over how to prep for birth and wrote a detailed birth plan. She thoroughly went over every possible scenario and interventions and we collaboratively made decisions on each item.
I ended up giving birth 3 1/2 weeks earlier than my due date, and she helped us stay calm and make the best decisions. She was available at 11pm when my water broke and came running to the hospital the next day. At the hospital, Ari did her magic and cervix was effaced and dialated super fast! The whole time we were having a pretty good time with the music on, we were discussing our plan of action but we also were chit-chatting which helped me get my mind off things and helped keep the mood casual like we were just hanging out. I felt very comfortable with Ari to tell her when things weren't feeling right with my body and wanted to shift things around and she was very accomodating. During pushing phase, we kicked it up a notch with the music and it felt very empowering to have everyone excitedly cheer me on with each push. Ari gave me lots of tips and pointers the entire process that I would've never known and I felt very relaxed everything was just going right. If you want a peace of mind with someone who's super knowledgeable about the laboring process, she's the perfect person!
