I wholeheartedly recommend Shannon as a doula! As first-time parents, my husband and I wanted support in preparation for birth and during it. Shannon provided both perfectly. Throughout the process, Shannon made us feel at ease, answered every question we had, and provided evidence-based information on any topics we asked about. Her calm demeanor was a source of strength and steadiness. Shannon sat down with us for two prenatal at-home visits in DC where we talked through what kinds of scenarios and choices we might face during birth. I have anxiety around medical situations and Shannon helped immensely with this. She was a great communicator and let us know when she was unavailable and worked with us to make sure we felt comfortable with potential backup doulas. During labor, Shannon was there every step of the way with comfort measures, advocacy, and was a sounding board when needed. In addition, Shannon and the L&D nurse worked as a coheisve team for holding my legs, coaching me, and suggesting different birthing positions. On top of being a great doula, Shannon was a great person to spend time with during the long laboring hours. I felt empowered and supported during my birth experience and I largely credit Shannon with this. We would use Shannon again in a heartbeat and recommend her to anyone looking for a supportive, compassionate doula.
