Katie supported us through the births of both of our babies, and I truly cannot imagine either experience without her. I originally chose her because she came highly recommended by moms I trusted, but I quickly understood why. Katie has incredible emotional intelligence and an ability to read the room without needing to be told what you need. Her calm, observant, almost motherly presence made me feel safe and supported through every unexpected nuance of birth. During my first, more physically intense labor, she helped me move and find different positions. During my second, a water birth, she provided counterpressure on my back to help me through the pain. In both births, I remember looking at her and asking, “What should I do?” and completely trusting her opinion. She never pushes her ideas on you, but leaves space for you to externally process. She helps you come to a decision!
Katie was just as invaluable to Aaron. He has said hiring her was the best investment we ever made, especially for our first birth. She gave him a sense of experience, peace, and comfort, allowing him to support me as my husband without carrying the full weight of knowing what to do during labor. Having Katie in the room was like having a fully functioning part of my brain when mine couldn’t be. No matter how much you prepare, birth is different when you’re actually in it and having someone as capable and trustworthy as Katie by your side is an absolute must.
