As first-time parents, we loved working with Kay as our birth doula and would recommend her to anyone seeking an evidence-based yet holistic and supportive approach. Kay built our confidence and knowledge around our birth plan, labor comfort positions, lactation, and what we could expect at our specific birth site. Her pre-birth sessions were informative, detailed, and never rushed, allowing us plenty of time for questions. I especially appreciated that Kay brought perspectives from other birthing cultures and traditions, and she answered our medical questions and non-medical questions with empathy and grace.
When my labor started, Kay was a star. She helped us navigate decisions about when exactly to travel to the hospital so we wouldn't have to wait in triage. Once on site, Kay kept our room calm and in control. She advocated for me when my epidural stopped working and patiently re-positioned me over and over to ensure I was comfortable over the course of 20 hours. As active labor started, Kay was my push coach, helping me understand what muscles to engage and motivating me throughout, while also helping my partner play an active role in guiding my breathing. My birth experience was smooth, positive, and (dare I say) easy thanks to Kay! We couldn't have done it without her.
