I want to share my experience with Kelsey, but first I have to say that my experience unfortunately does not include much assistance during labor. This is no fault of Kelsey and was a very unfortunate circumstance during my labor; cord prolapse.
Kelsey was such a joy to work with. She’s down to earth, has a natural willingness to help others, and goes above and beyond.
Our first two prenatal visits were very helpful. We went over different positions that I could use during labor. She would check in between the visits and ask how I was doing. Kelsey would send any information that she thought could help me in my pregnancy journey.
After my water broke she arrived to help with labor. My other labors had been 4-5 hours long so she came right away. She would check in and ask if I would want to try any positions during contractions or if I needed help with anything else or just space.
Things with south with my labor, requiring me to get an emergency c-section. She stayed the night in the hospital with me since my husband was at a different hospital with one of our babies, even though that’s not what a doula “normally” does. She was there for me emotionally and physically. At the drop of a hat she helped.
Kelsey truly cares for who she is a doula for. You can tell it’s not just a job, it’s her calling.
I am forever grateful that she was a part of my birth team and now a part of my life.
