This was my third pregnancy but my first experience with a doula, and from the very beginning, Lisa was an invaluable source of support. We genuinely wished we’d had her for our other two pregnancies and births. Knowing what we know now, we would have hired her in a heartbeat. Her services were worth every cent.
After two c-sections, I spent much of my pregnancy debating whether to pursue a VBAC. Lisa patiently walked with me through my vacillation. Ultimately, our son was born via a scheduled c-section, and having Lisa by our side made a night-and-day difference compared to our previous births. There’s a misconception that you don’t need a doula for a c-section, but birth is birth, and having Lisa there was one of the best decisions we could have made.
Lisa was with us from the moment we arrived at the hospital until we were settled with our son. She accompanied me through surgery prep, anesthesia, delivery, and recovery, checked on my comfort, clarified processes, communicated with medical staff, and advocated for our birth preferences. Her calm presence made a nerve-wracking and vulnerable experience not only feel manageable but actually peace-filled. Thanks to Lisa, I got the support I needed — and so did our son. She was a wealth of knowledge and resources from pregnancy to postpartum and poured the power of prayer into our journey.
I truly believe God has given Lisa a special gift and calling for being with women and families through birth, and placing her in our path was answered prayer. Lisa didn’t just show up for our birth; she walked with us through an entire season and became my sister in Christ.
If you’re considering a doula, regardless of the type of birth you have planned, I cannot recommend Lisa enough. She is an absolute blessing.
