We worked with Andrea for the birth of our first child. My goal was to have an unmedicated birth, and because of her support, I was able to have exactly that. Leading up to the birth, she was available by phone and email to support my mental and emotional preparation — sharing resources, encouragement, and even prayer, which meant a lot to me.
During labor, she encouraged me to take my time, stay calm, and trust my body. I labored through the night at home using techniques she'd taught us in advance, and was able to arrive at the hospital already in active labor — which felt like a real accomplishment, since that was exactly what I had hoped for. She met us at the hospital and was in our room minutes after we checked in. She interfaced with my medical team beautifully, offered hands-on support, and guided my husband. She paid close attention to my cues throughout and offered simple, well-timed suggestions — position changes, using the bathroom, things that kept labor progressing — without ever making me feel rushed. When we hit a few unexpected bumps along the way, she helped me stay steady and focused rather than anxious. In the days following birth, she remained a helpful resource. Her attentiveness made all the difference — I felt calm, cared for, and genuinely proud of what my body had done.
I would recommend Andrea without hesitation as a doula! She was so kind, respectful of my birth preferences, and easy to trust during such a vulnerable time.
