It is hard to put into words what Diana meant to me throughout my pregnancy, labor, and the birth of my son, James. Choosing her as my doula was one of the best decisions we made, and I truly cannot imagine going through this experience without her.
From the beginning, Diana made me feel empowered in my choices and completely supported. I had envisioned an unmedicated birth and initially didn’t want to be induced, but birth doesn’t always follow a plan. As labor progressed, I became more flexible and listened to my medical team. At times I questioned whether I was making the right choices, but looking back, I know adapting was the best decision for the safe delivery James and I needed.
Through every change, Diana was there. She never made me feel that changing course meant losing the birth experience I wanted. She supported my original wishes and supported me just as fully when my choices changed, helping me feel informed, involved, and confident.
She brought so much warmth to our hospital stay and connected naturally with my husband. Watching them joke together brought much-needed laughter into a long, intense experience. She truly became part of our team.
During pushing, I understood just how invaluable she was. Diana knew how to reach me through the intensity, ground me, encourage me, and make me feel safe and capable. Her presence was vital.
When James was born and unexpectedly needed immediate medical attention, everything changed. While the medical team cared for him, Diana stayed connected to me through one of my most frightening and vulnerable moments.
Diana didn’t just attend our son’s birth—she became part of his birth story. She supported the birth I hoped for and, more importantly, supported me through the birth we ultimately needed.
Our birth didn’t go according to plan, but having Diana there was one part I wouldn’t change for anything. ??
