I had a great birth experience with Katie as my doula. My spouse and I both took comfort in knowing she would be on my birth team and that she understood our concerns and goals going into the experience. My birth plan changed in last few weeks of my pregnancy (was hoping to go into labor naturally but ended up with an induction, also ended up getting an epidural earlier than I had anticipated) and though that meant that the support from Katie looked a little different than what I had initially expected, she adapted to the new plan and helped me mentally prepare for the different options and experience. I was especially grateful to have her next to me when I was pushing as well as when I had horrible shakes in the hours leading up to pushing. She was very communicative, supportive, and informative before, during, and after birth, and I never felt any pressure from her.
The photos Katie took during my birth are gorgeous and so precious to me. I'm still not sure how she took such amazing photos while holding one of my legs AND and supporting me and my spouse through it all. It was so unobtrusive.
We also hired Katie for a few nights as a postpartum doula. Appreciated the deep sleep and not waking at every little baby noise.
