At 37 weeks pregnant, we ended up needing to find a doula, as our original plan had shifted. We were connected with Joy through our midwife and she was able to meet with us same week. The timing felt divine as I went into labor 3 days after meeting Joy.
Joy was knowledgeable, organized and thorough in all information she provided. She shared helpful resources ahead of time and was available for any questions/concerns that we had.
When I did go into labor, Joy was prompt in her communication and available via call/text to support as needed until she joined us in person. Joy arrived right when we needed her. She brought a peaceful, reassuring and calming presence. She supported my partner and made sure that he was taken care of, fed and had the tools he needed to support me. Joy consistently encouraged me, kept a positive and relaxed demeanor, ensured that I was moving/changing positions and helped provide counter pressure. After our daughter arrived, she helped with latching/feeding, made sure that we were comfortable and provided helpful resources for our first night as a family of 3. I can’t say enough positive things and I simply can’t imagine having experienced our first birth without her. She was a gift sent to us for this birth and we’d recommend her over and over!
