Julie was an excellent doula for our home birth who I would highly recommend to anyone seeking support in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My partner and I started working with her towards the end of pregnancy and found it easy to establish a connection, despite having a short amount of time to do so. She provided wonderful prenatal resources and education in how to prepare for labor and postpartum, as well as what to expect. My partner described those as being especially helpful in preparing to provide labor support.
Julie was a calm and grounding presence during my labor and birth. She was able to sense when I needed additional support and when to step back and allow my partner and I to work through labor the two of us. She provided helpful suggestions as to position changes and comfort measures to try in order to alleviate discomfort during contractions. After I gave birth, I experienced a postpartum complication and Julie was especially helpful in communicating with my partner what was going on, as my midwives were providing me with necessary care. She also took wonderful pictures during my labor and birth that I will treasure forever.
Julie excels at communication and made herself readily available during my pregnancy as well as during postpartum. She would send regular check-ins to ensure we knew she was available with resources and support. We are very grateful to have had her during our pregnancy and birth!
