We were hoping for a vaginal birth, but because our baby was breech, he decided to 'come out the sunroof.' Letting go of my original expectations was a huge emotional hurdle, but Francesca stood by my side, reassuring me that everything I was feeling was valid. Because she had previously shared a brief overview of what an emergency C-section entails, which opened the door for a deeper conversation later on. I felt grounded and far less anxious during surgery.
She spent the whole day supporting us through our first hours postpartum in the hospital—making sure my partner and I were fed, settled into our recovery room, and attended to promptly. I was never left alone when my partner stepped out with the baby. Having her as a second set of eyes while working with the lactation specialist to master hand expression was incredible. Having her there allowed me to rest and feel fully supported as we started our journey as a family.
Our transition home was far from easy, but the extra postpartum hours Francesca provided during our first week were absolute lifesavers. She helped with light chores and watched the baby so I could shower and take a moment for myself, allowing my partner to run errands worry-free.
She cared for our home with so much tenderness. Even though she’s younger than me, having her by my side felt like having a wise older sister or grandmother in the room. Her energy was empowering, intentional, and deeply natural. I couldn’t imagine going through this without her, and I’m so grateful she still checks in on us months later!
