Like many first-time parents, I was anxious and nervous about giving birth. Caitlin met with my husband and me beforehand and helped prepare us with everything from labor and delivery to what to expect postpartum.
Despite having a low-risk pregnancy, I was diagnosed with preeclampsia in triage on the day of delivery. Things quickly became overwhelming as I needed an emergency C-section and was then considered high risk for postpartum preeclampsia. I felt scared, helpless, and completely out of my depth. In moments like those, I was incredibly grateful to have Caitlin by my side; someone knowledgeable and calm who could help me understand what was happening, make informed decisions, and feel validated in the many emotions I was experiencing.
Her support didn’t end in the hospital. Caitlin continued to check in on me afterward and shared thoughtful resources to help me navigate postpartum anxiety and find additional support. I’m so grateful to have had her in my corner during one of the most vulnerable and intense experiences of my life.
