We hired Samaria as a sibling doula to watch our 19-month-old while my husband and I were at the hospital delivering our second child. She visited us twice beforehand to meet our daughter and get a little familiar with her. They immediately got along, my daughter was happy playing with her, and Samaria was great with time management, keeping her entertained and engaged with activities she had planned in advance. She clearly has experience with kids: she's sweet and fun with them, and committed and responsible with the whole family. She was great at listening to our preferences and rules, and at remembering the logistics of the house.
Even though we hired her as a sibling's doula, she gave me recommendations to prepare for labor during my last weeks of pregnancy, offered to visit me to go through them together, and checked in on me regularly regarding both the family and my emotional state. She is very proactive and knowledgeable, and always provided the perfect amount of support in the exact way we needed it.
In the end, baby number two decided to arrive after our contract with Samaria was over, but Samaria overdelivered! She reached out and said we could still call once labor started, and she might be able to support us. We called her at 4 a.m. and she saved us! She met us at the hospital and kept our toddler company for a couple of hours, exactly what we needed. Samaria was there before any family could arrive. Besides her personality and professionalism, I'm so grateful for her willingness to help even at 4 a.m., after her contract had already ended.
