Aja was an absolute rockstar during my labor and delivery. I’m a first-time mom and wanted an unmedicated labor, and I can say with certainty that without Aja I wouldn’t have been able to achieve it.
We found Aja early during my third trimester. She provided lots of resources that I found helpful, and introduced us to exercises, breath work, and labor positions that she encouraged us to practice on our own. She also worked with me to create a hypnobirth track that ended up giving me a much needed reprieve during a few hours of active labor.
When labor began, she came and stayed with us at home for nearly 6 hours during early labor. Her presence made an immediate difference: we went out for walks and got some fresh air, and I found myself almost enjoying early labor. The mix of activity and rest had me halfway to 10 cms when we finally went to the hospital! At the hospital she kept both me and my support team calm and grounded as labor intensified, using her experience to reassure us that each phase was progressing normally and how to enable me to manage the pain. She also prevented me from pushing too early (which saved my energy for the right time and minimized any tearing), and effectively calmed me down whenever I started to panic. Her presence was invaluable.
