Jessica was truly one of the greatest gifts God gave us throughout my pregnancy and birth. From early pregnancy, Jessica helped us navigate our care, connected us with incredible resources, checked in consistently, and gave us the education and encouragement that allowed us to approach birth with confidence and peace rather than fear.
When labor finally came, her presence was invaluable. After two nights without sleep, my husband and I both felt an enormous sense of relief when Jessica walked through our door. She brought such a calm, wise, nurturing presence into our home. Her positioning suggestions helped turn my back labor around and move our baby into a better position, and she cared for both of us—giving my husband an opportunity to rest while making me feel completely safe and supported.
What I will remember most, though, is the way Jessica cared for my heart. I have a complicated relationship with my own mother, and during my pregnancy my mom suffered a severe stroke that left her very debilitated. I didn’t realize until afterward how much I needed a motherly presence during those long hours of labor. Jessica gave me that in the most tender, compassionate way. I will never forget it.
She also supported my husband beautifully. During an especially intense moment, she reminded him that what I was experiencing was purposeful—that this was what I needed to go through to become a mother. His entire perspective shifted after that.
Jessica worked seamlessly with our midwives and photographed our son’s entrance into the world, giving us images we will treasure forever. She was integral to making our 59-hour birth experience one that I remember as beautiful, peaceful, empowering, and holy. I cannot imagine our birth without her. Jessica is an absolute gift, and we hope to work with her again in future births. ??
