Inviting someone into your birth space requires an extraordinary amount of trust. From the moment Rebecca entered ours, her presence felt effortless. She was calm, intuitive, respectful and somehow managed to be there for everything while never once making the experience feel observed or interrupted. I was able to completely disappear into the birth of my son, knowing she was quietly preserving it for us.
And what she captured is beyond anything I could have imagined. She didn’t simply document what happened, she captured what it felt like. The anticipation, the intensity, the tenderness, the love between my husband and me, the moment our son entered the world, and all of those tiny sacred moments surrounding it that I never could have seen while I was living them.
Watching our birth film transported me immediately back to that night and morning. To have been so deeply inside an experience and then be given the opportunity to witness it from another perspective is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. I could watch it for the rest of my life and remember exactly what those moments felt like.
These are not simply photographs and videos to us. They are the preservation of the most profound day of our lives. One day our son will be able to see the love that surrounded him as he entered this world, and there is something almost indescribably beautiful about that.
