Stephanie did a wonderful job as our doula for the birth of our first child. We are older and had lots of questions about going through pregnancy and childbirth for the first time. Stephanie helped us every step of the way. She is a wealth of knowledge not only for childbirth, but pregnancy and postpartum also.
During pregnancy she advised us about nutrition, recommended reading materials, and explained step by step what would happen during childbirth. She also helped us prepare a written birth plan, which was a great exercise to go through as a couple and also invaluable to have once we were in the hospital for the actual delivery.
Labor and delivery turned out to be longer and more difficult than we anticipated. Having Stephanie with us through this experience made all the difference. She advised us on the phone when my water broke and subsequently met us at the hospital and helped with physical movement to help move labor along, emotional support, and even helped with the delivery. She has an extremely calm and reassuring demeanor which helped keep us grounded during delivery when things got tense. And once our son was here, she took a bunch of photos so we could focus on him and not have to worry about documenting his first few minutes of life.
After we got home, Stephanie kept in touch with us and checked in to make sure both mom and baby were ok. This extra level of care demonstrates how seriously she takes her role and how she really became part of our team during such an important time in our lives. We highly recommend Stephanie to anyone looking for a doula.
