When I got pregnant with my third, I knew I wanted a redemptive unmedicated vaginal birth. I was nervous about finding a doula that would not only support me in my vba2c endeavor but be my trusted advocate at the hospital. The moment I got off the phone with Hannah I knew she was the one!
Her communication in the weeks leading up to my due date was top tier, always making herself available for my questions and sending me much needed resources. I felt nothing but unconditional support as she made me see how absolutely common and possible it was to have a successful vba2c (what I used to think was far-fetched). No wonder I had nothing but confidence heading into my baby’s delivery!
As we had guessed, during my labor we were met with many voices trying to get me to the operating table. But Hannah’s voice in those rooms was both powerful and calming, as it reminded me time and time again I was strong enough to do it and to advocate for myself. During the contractions, her and my husband became my DREAM TEAM when it felt like I couldn’t keep going.
As labor progressed, things not on my birth plan became a reality, but because of Hannah’s knowledge and encouragement, I felt like I was 100% in control, and nobody else was making the decisions for me (something that I felt led to my first c section).
Although my son’s birth did not end the way I envisioned, the experience provided an unbelievable rise of confidence in my body and mind. Something I know would not have been possible without Hannah.
Not only did I get an amazing and capable doula, we feel like we got a lifelong friend!
