It was clear from the first meeting that not only does she have the expertise and experience we needed to lean on as parents expecting our 1st baby in our 40s, but also very importantly she has the right disposition and emotional sensitivity and intelligence for this sacred work. Abbie is a warm, strong, patient and deeply kind leader. We could relax and exhale in her presence. She absolutely struck the magical balance between holding space for both myself and my husband in the midst of our unique and vulnerable journey - and providing an amazing and inclusive class with awesome structure and all the information we needed to feel truly prepared to welcome our baby into the world via a planned C-section (due to breach position). Not only was there space in the class to ask any questions we wanted but she also asked us a lot of questions that we hadn't previously thought of which really helped us prepare for the birth experience, as well as the journey leading up to it and postpartum.
I am a spiritual person who loves ceremony and many things "woo" while my husband is more
traditional and focused on science. I was surprised and so happy to find Abbie acknowledged both of these approaches/ways of being and helped us to integrate and come together in our birth plan. I was especially impressed that Abbie knew about the little-known holistic technique of Havening, a modality that has been the single most effective tool in my kit on my 20+ year journey of recovering from PTSD. She walked my husband through this technique so that he could help me with any stress, anxiety and pain during the birth process. She is truly a wealth of knowledge and heart! 11/10 recommend for parents looking for a doula class that will meet them where they are. My husband and I are deeply grateful to her ??????
