I wasn’t even sure I needed a labor doula with my third baby, but since my insurance covered it, I decided I’d give it a try. I’m SO happy I did!! We hired Shaina for labor and postpartum support.
Labor support really blew me away. I truly think my birth and recovery went so much more smoothly because she was there. The nurses were trying to move everything along quickly but Shaina helped advocate for me to wait until my body felt ready.
Her postpartum support was also invaluable. Having a newborn with two little kids means things pile up exponentially faster. After rough nights, Shaina would take the baby so I could get some rest, help with dishes, laundry, and other household tasks, and helped make it feel like our whole house wasn’t falling apart!
It should be mentioned that a doula sees you during very vulnerable and raw moments of life, and Shaina never judged. As someone who doesn’t sit still or rest well, she helpfully reminded me I had just had a baby, and should take it easy!
Every growing family could benefit from having Shaina’s support. She made such a huge difference in our lives and we (my husband included) are eternally grateful for everything she did for our family.
