Elle was our doula for the birth of our first child and for some postpartum shifts following the birth, and we are incredibly grateful for our experience with her every step of the way. She was such a support to my husband and I — caring, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive throughout this difficult and joyful period.
During our prenatal visits, she walked us through what to expect from my body, the birthing process, and the medical staff at the hospital. She also helped us work on our birth plan, discussed pain management techniques with us, and helped us set ourselves up for the postpartum period.
Throughout labor at the hospital, she was an incredibly steadying presence for both me and my husband. She brought up questions and considerations to both us and the medical staff, shaping discussions in a way that helped us feel more confident and brought us closer to our goals for the birth. She reminded us of pain management techniques that we had identified and practiced, read to me during calmer moments, and overall felt like a core member of our little team.
We knew we wanted a birth doula who would also be available for postpartum support, so we had a trusted and familiar face at our side in those vulnerable early days, and that is just what we found Elle to be. Besides processing the birth together (so helpful!), Elle cooked for us, cared for our son, and helped us troubleshoot care challenges with incredible patience and compassion. We were so grateful to have that continuity from pregnancy to birth to postpartum.
Including Elle in our team was a great decision — we would wholeheartedly recommend her to any family looking for support during their birth journey and beyond.
