Mellisa was such an integral part of my pregnancy and birth and helped facilitate a healing labor and birth experience for me with my third baby. After a c section for my first and long and very painful labor with my second, I felt so held by Mellisa, as she really seemed to understand the unique experience of pursuing a VBAC and how important it was to me for my birth to feel empowering and positive. I contracted with her less than two months into my pregnancy and she was with me every step of the way, checking in after every appointment and providing reassurance and resources when needed. Through using the spinning babies tools she gave me at our prenatal visit I felt really confident going into my birth that baby was in a good position and that between she and I we had the coping tools we would need to get baby out smoothly. She provided valuable guidance while I labored at home and as soon as she arrived at the hospital I felt such relief knowing she was there. I felt safe, held, and guided with her presence. My partner really appreciated being able to be my support without having to also help me make decisions and provide pain relief. Her support helped me achieve the unmedicated birth I’ve always wanted and her knowledge helped my baby arrive safely despite the hospital being busy. I cannot say enough good things about her care and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a doula for their birth.
