My husband and I are incredibly grateful to have had Keisha as our doula, especially for our first child! Keisha was always available to answer any questions, whether it was by text, phone call, or zoom call. If she wasn't sure how to answer a question, she would use her resources to find one. We would check in with her regularly, usually after the prenatal appointments to align with what was currently happening. During these check ins, she would educate us on what to expect during that time and the upcoming phase so we were aware of and could prepare for what would happen next. Setting up educational classes through MyBirthRVA with her was very easy, some of which she helped set up for us. She even taught the childbirth education class that we went to, which was awesome to watch her shine in another role! Although she did an amazing job supporting us throughout the pregnancy, where she truly impacted us the most was during the labor/delivery phase. Not only did she do numerous things for me to be more comfortable (i.e. aromatherapy, physical assistance, words of encouragement, giving me water to drink, etc), but she helped guide my husband on what to do and stepped in to give him breaks. She also helped to communicate and coordinate with the healthcare staff on what we wanted and how to best help us. Even though she did all of this for hours on end, she still came back to check in on us in the post-partum/mother infant unit and a week or so later at our home to see how we were doing. Keisha is an excellent doula with a wonderful, calm, fun, and compassionate demeanor. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants additional support throughout their pregnancy and beyond!
